Caecilians (Apoda or Gymnophiona) are a group of limbless, worm-like amphibians. They are mostly fossorial or aquatic, and are seldom seen. The order contains 10 families, 33 genera and 206 species. Caecilians are restricted to the tropics of South and Central America, Africa, and South Asia. Their diet consists of earthworms and small subterranean arthropods. We do not have images of any species of caecilians at this time. Please check the "Amphibian Species in Our Collection" page for the list of available species. |
